Sparkball to Take Center Stage in Esports Competition Featuring Cloud9 and G2
Esports is about to get even more exciting with the introduction of Sparkball, a new virtual sport that has just been announced as a featured game in a major esports competition featuring two of the biggest teams in the world – Cloud9 and G2. This competition promises to be a highly-anticipated event, as it will see these two top teams go head-to-head in a new and exciting game.
Sparkball is an exciting new esport that has been described as “League of Legends meets Rocket League.” Developed by Worldspark Studios, this game combines elements of traditional mobas with fast-paced vehicular action, creating an experience that is truly unique.
This weekend, Worldspark Studios will host the Ascension Invitational, an online Sparkball competition that will see some of the world’s best esports teams compete for the title of champion. The event will take place on June 24th, 2023, and is sure to be an exciting showcase of this exciting new esport.
Ten teams will take part in the competition, including some of the biggest names in esports. These include G2 Esports, Cloud9, Team Liquid, Evil Geniuses, NRG, Spacestation Gaming, Fnatic, Heretics, Method, and Ninjas in Pyjamas. Many of these teams include players from other game squads or notable Twitch streamers and content creators, making the competition all the more exciting.
Sparkball is played as a 4v4 “mobrawler,” which means that it combines the traditional MOBA formula of leveling up and upgrading skills with fast-paced, sports-tinged gameplay. Matches take place on a unique, arena-style field, where players must use their cars to navigate the obstacles, avoid enemy fire, and score goals. With a mix of strategy, skill, and adrenaline-fueled action, Sparkball is sure to be a hit with esports fans everywhere.
The Ascension Invitational is a Sparkball competition with a $32,000 prize pool that will be streaming on Twitch. According to Chandler Thomlison, the founder and CEO at Worldspark, the competition was designed to create excitement for the upcoming game and prove its legitimacy to potential players.
“If a player sees the game on stream via their favorite creator, or sees their favorite organization playing it competitively, we think it makes them want to like the game,” says Thomlison.
Landing the teams for the competition was a challenge, as Worldspark aimed for what Thomlison calls an “absolutely ridiculous lineup.” To achieve this goal, they cold-called every organization they could think of and only began to build momentum after one of the teams played the game.
While Thomlison is less concerned with getting a “super wide reach” from the competition, he is more focused on “deep reach.” The Ascension Invitational is an opportunity to showcase the game to a wider audience, while also giving players a chance to compete for a sizable prize pool.
Overall, The Ascension Invitational promises to be an exciting event, featuring some of the top teams in the esports world competing in Sparkball. Fans and players alike can tune in to see what promises to be a thrilling competition and get a glimpse of what the future holds for this exciting new game.
